Missions Minded! — Jesus commanded believers to go to the world and make disciples, yet believers today in the United States, seem less concerned about missions than ever before.

In a recent study, it was revealed that American Christians spend 95% of missions moneys on home based ministries, 4.5% on cross-cultural efforts for those already reached and .5% on the un-reached.

One may wonder why Calvary Chapel San Gabriel Valley (CCSGV) has launched out to Nueva Guinea, Nicaragua.

From the beginning of this ministry, we have supported missions, missionaries and efforts to reach the lost.

The call to missions is given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20 and is not some choice we are offered, it is a command:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

Our vision is to reach, teach and send unto all the world! Now the Lord has directed us to Nicaragua.

The Lord has clearly lead us to minister there, at first by our support to an orphanage, then our "hands-on" short term mission teams and now by our long term presence.

Nueva Guinea has an important geographic location for the country of Nicaragua. There is a population of 125,000 people associated with this town. Presently the main highway ends in Nueva Guinea with plans to continue to the town of Bluefields, on the eastern coast (Caribbean Sea). When this occurs, Nueva Guinea will explode with people!

In the city of Nueva Guinea, we have full-time missionaries living on our property, and ministering to the people of Nueva Guinea. Throughout the year short term missionary teams travel to Nicaragua to assist our full-time missionaries. Calvary Chapel Nueva Guinea has grown out of this ministry and is actively touching lives for Jesus.
